Oil of Oregano

Published by admin on July 12th, 2011 - in Uncategorized

Oregano is one of the common herbs used in Italian food. It belongs to the mint family, green in color when fresh. Its strong aromatic aroma is maintained even when it is dried. Dried oregano is used to add flavor to food. But the Oil of Oregano is derived from the leaves and used in various health benefiting ways.

Numerous university studies have shown that Oil of Oregano is a highly potent purifier that provides many benefits for human health. It is a natural substance that is extracted from wild oregano plants, and two key compounds found in it are carvacrol and thymol. Studies have shown that both of these compounds could have significant effects on harmful microorganisms that cause many illnesses in humans.

In an effort to keep healthy, we at Supplement Spot, have recently added this supplement to our product list. The ancient Greeks were one of the first people to recognize this oil for its health benefits. It is known to be a potent antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-parasitic oil that can encourage a healthy living style and strengthen proper immune function.

Various uses of Oil of Oregano may include but are not limited to: skin, digestive problems, sinus congestions, and sore throats. Oil of Oregano has also been praised in various studies for fighting the look of age spots. The benefits of Oil of Oregano are said to be plentiful and should be considered if you’re looking for a natural way to continue staying healthy. However, it is important to consult a physician before adding a supplement into your diet and to remember that the results of supplements vary from person to person, so what could have had tremendous benefits for one, may not do quite the same for you.

Promoting a healthy style of living is important to us here at Supplement Spot, we encourage you to check out our June 21 blog post “TWENTY FIVE WAYS TO STAY HEALTHIER.” Supplements can play a critical part in becoming healthy and staying that way. We hope you will contact us with any questions you may have and we look forward to working with you in the future.

TWENTY FIVE WAYS TO BE HEALTHIER

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here are twenty-five ways to be healthier, feel better, and live longer. Most all of these cost nothing, or even save you money. Health is real wealth, and quality of life is everything. Natural health is about a total program of diet and lifestyle.
  • EAT MORE WHOLE GRAINS. Whole grains are literally the staff of life, the very basis of your daily food. Grains are full of nutrition and fiber.
  • EAT MORE BEANS. Beans are a wonderful food full of nutrition, protein, and fiber.
  • EAT MORE GREEN AND YELLOW VEGETABLES. We just don’t eat enough of them. Use innovative and international recipes to make them really taste good.
  • EAT TWO MEALS A DAY. You don’t need to eat three times a day. The less you eat the longer you’ll live and the healthier you’ll be.
  • FAST EVERY WEEK. Every week eat your dinner and then don’t eat until dinner the next day. This means 52 one day fasts every year! This is accumulative and very powerful.
  • EXERCISE REGULARLY. Even walking a half hour a day will change your life. Join a gym and go three times a week. Learn to “superset” and get a one hour workout in 15 minutes. Lack of exercise is a major reason for our obesity epidemic.
  • GET ENOUGH SLEEP. Sleep is healing and restorative. As you age, you may well find you need to sleep more than when you were young. Naps are very powerful as well.
  • DON’T TAKE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. With rare exceptions you should never take any. You cannot poison your way to health. Americans take far more than anyone else.
  • LIMIT OR END ANY BAD HABITS. You don’t have to be a saint, but you do have to at least limit such things as coffee and alcohol.
  • EAT LESS SUGAR AND SWEETS. Americans swill down over 160 pounds of various sugars every year. No one else does this. All these sugars cause poor health and disease.
  • DON’T EAT DESSERTS. Take the concept of “dessert” out of your life. Asians do not have the concept of desserts as part of their meals.
  • EAT OUT LESS OFTEN. Learn to cook better. Eating out is expensive, and you always end up eating things you shouldn’t be eating and wouldn’t eat at home.
  • TAKE YOUR LUNCH TO WORK. Take your own lunch to work. You’ll save money and have better tasting, healthier food. Have your children take their lunch to school.
  • TAKE DAIRY OUT OF YOUR LIFE. Dairy is the worst food on earth, due to the lactose and casein in milk and dairy foods. Use soy or other milk substitutes. Milk is bad food.
  • TAKE PROVEN SUPPLEMENTS. If under 40 there are only 8 you need. If over 40 there are about 20 you need. Read my book The Supplements You Need. You will SAVE money on medical bills by taking these proven natural supplements.
  • BALANCE YOUR BASIC HORMONES. Anyone over the age of 40 needs to balance their basic vital hormones, including melatonin, pregnenolone, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, T3, and T4. Women need to balance their three basic estrogens.
  • NO MORE MEAT, POULTRY, AND EGGS. Eat 10% seafood, or be a vegetarian. Meat, poultry, and eggs are full of animal proteins, cholesterol, and saturated fats.
  • STOP EATING NIGHTSHADES. Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants contain toxic solanine and other harmful alkaloids. These were never meant for human consumption.
  • STOP EATING TROPICAL FOODS. Tropical foods like bananas, avocadoes, citrus fruit, and mangoes are meant for tropical peoples living in tropical lands.
  • EAT SOUP BEFORE EACH MEAL. Eat a hearty bowl of soup before your two meals each day, and you will eat less food yet still be full. Soup makes you feel full.
  • DON’T SNACK. Eat your two meals a day and leave it at that. Our obsession with food, and eating 16 hours a day, is pathological.
  • EAT LESS FRUIT AND FRUIT JUICE. Read the article Fruits Have Almost No Nutrition in our free library. Fruits are basically sugar and water with almost no vitamins or minerals at all. Fruit juice has as much sugar as cola drinks and the same kind of sugar (fructose).
  • HAVE GOOD SEX regularly. This is good for mind, body, and soul.
  • MEDITATE EVERY DAY. Sit quietly and don’t think! Just a half hour or quiet meditation every day will change your life and your spiritual destiny.
  • BE THANKFUL. Be thankful just for being alive. Be thankful for everything you’ve been given. Life is a brief flash of light in the universe. Be thankful for pure existence. If you are missing anything in your life please read the article Affirmative Prayer in our free library. Affirmative prayer will bring everything you need into your life.
Supplement Spot has many high quality multi-vitamins at excellent prices. You will not find this kind of quality at your local drug store. Being young and fast also helps on those cobblestone streets.
6. Lower Your Blood PressureCoQ10 is an excellent supplement that supports healthy blood pressure, and is a necessary nutrient for energy production at a cellular level. More and more studies are showing excellent results from CoQ10.
7. Drink Lots of Wine! – Well, we really can’t advise to drink a lot of wine but we do carry a supplement that stores the benefits of doing just that. Resvert Plus has 250 mg of resveratrol in every capsule. Researchers believe that resveratrol is partially responsible for the cholesterol-lowering effects of red wine.
The key to successful New Years Resolutions in 2011 is to make your goals attainable and enjoyable. Don’t give up if you have a little setback. Get back on your horse (or treadmill, as the case may be), and keep on going. And, remember…
Serious Supplement Program
Published by admin on October 29th, 2010 - in Uncategorized
Here is a letter written by Roger Mason, a research chemist and friend of Supplement Spot.
Here is a one page list of proven supplements everyone over the age of 40 should be taking. Anyone over 40 should be taking about 20 supplements, plus whatever hormones they need (see the hormone articles such as How to Balance Your Basic Hormones). That may seem like a lot, but every one of these will improve your health and well being. Those under 40 only need eight supplements. Read the article Supplements for Younger People, and take All Your Minerals and Vitamins®, flax oil, beta glucan, acidophilus, vitamin D, vitamin E, and FOS. Health is real wealth. Without good health you have nothing. Diet and lifestyle are everything. A wholesome low fat, high fiber diet of whole grains and natural foods is central. People are too willing to shell out hundreds of dollars for toxic prescription drugs that just make their health worse, but balk at paying a hundred dollars a month for natural supplements to help them live longer and better. Instead of paying extortionate prices for an after-the-fact health “insurance” program, spend $100 a month on the following supplements. An ounce of prevention is worth ten pounds of cure. Read my booklet The Supplements You Need.
Beta glucan 200 mg, or 400 mg for the first year if you have an illness
CoQ10 100 mg and no less; 200 mg for the first year if you have an illness, no ubiquinol !!!
Quercetin 100 mg; another powerful natural antioxidant
Beta-sitosterol 300 mg of mixed sterols, or 600 mg for the first year if you have an illness
Soy isoflavones 40 mg of combined genestein and daidzein
DIM 200 mg to lower estrogens in men and women; better and stronger than I3C
Flax oil 1,000 to 2,000 mg (or ½ tsp liquid); better than fish oil- must be refrigerated.
PS (phosphatidyl serine) 100 mg for better brain function
ALC (acetyl-L-carnitine) 500 mg for better brain function
Acidophilus 6 billion units one or two capsules a day for better digestion- must be refrigerated.
FOS (fructooligosaccharides) 750 to 1,500 mg for better digestion
L-glutamine 1,000 mg in the AM and 1,000 mg in the PM for better digestion
Glucosamine 500 to 1000 mg for good joint health
Alpha lipoic acid 400 mg to maintain healthy blood sugar levels
NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) 600 mg to raise your glutathione levels
Vitamin E natural mixed tocopherols 200 IU (or 400 IU every other day); classic antioxidant
All Your Minerals® one daily gives you 20 vital elements in the amounts you need
All Your Vitamins® one daily gives you the RDA of all 13 vitamins
Beta carotene 10,000 IU; a powerful antioxidant
L-Carnosine 500 to 1,000 mg if you are concerned about your heart and artery health)
Vitamin B-6 women should take 10 mg a day and no more (the RDA is only 2 mg)
Folic acid women should take 800 mcg a day
An American macrobiotic diet, natural hormone balance, weekly fasting, no prescription drugs, regular exercise, and limit or stop any bad habits is the ultimate formula for health and long life. Please read the article Seven Steps to Natural Health. My book Zen Macrobiotics for Americans is the most basic and important of the ten book series, and covers everything just mentioned in detail. Don’t try to rely on Magic Supplements to make you well, as there are none. These twenty are clinically proven to be the most important and effective of all.
Supplement Spot Gives Back!
Published by admin on October 11th, 2010 - in Uncategorized
Last year, Supplement Spot pledged to donate 1 bottle of our Kid’s Chewable Multivitamin for every order over $75.  We are proud to announce that we just made another shipment of almost 2000 bottles!  We have been informed that Vitamin Angels will distribute the multivitamins in partnership with Humanitarian Efforts Reaching Out (HERO) and the Yogi Tsoru Dechen Rinpoche Foundation, working to improve nutrition for young children in the Mainpat Tibetan Refugee Camps in Chhattisgarh, India.
India is a country experiencing chronic undernutrition. Growth stunting, underweight status, anemia, vitamin A deficiency (VAD) measured by serum retinol levels (< 70 µmol/L) and under-5 child mortality rate (U5MR) are recognized indicators of micronutrient deficiency and chronic undernutrition. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2009) reports that of children under 5 in India, 47.9% are stunted, 19% are wasted, 74.3% are anemic, and 62% are vitamin A deficient. U5MR is 72/1000 live births. Children’s multivitamins are an important intervention to mitigate vitamin deficiencies, including associated morbidity and mortality, and to ensure the healthy development of vulnerable children.
You can feel good knowing that ordering with Supplement Spot is not only benefiting your own health but needy children as well.
Thank you all and remember…Live Long and Love Life!
